CIAA Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

Women’s Player of the Week
Allyson Hardy-Bowie State University, 5’6”, SR, Guard, Germantown, MD

In three games this week, Hardy, the 2003 CIAA Player of the Year, shot 53 % from the field and averaged 30 points, 5.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.3 steals. In Bowie’s 87-69 win over Livingstone College, Hardy connected on 68 % of her field goal attempts (13/19), including 3 for 3 from behind the 3-point line and finished with a season high 36 points.

Rookie of the Week
Celeste Trahan-Elizabeth City State University, 6’2”, FR, Center, Stockton, CA

Trahan posted collegiate career highs of 29 points and 19 rebounds in the Lady Vikings’ 79-76 win over Virginia State. She also scored 24 points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a loss to fifth ranked Shaw University.

Coach of the Week
Jacques Curtis-Shaw University

With three wins this week, Coach Curtis and the Lady Bears improved to 13-1 and are ranked fifth nationally in the NCAA Division II poll.
