Women’s Player of the WeekJoy Hairston-Shaw University, 6’1”, SR, Guard, Durham, NC
Hairston averaged 21.3 points, 8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and one steal as the third ranked Lady Bears picked up conference wins over Livingstone, Saint Paul’s and Fayetteville State this week. In Shaw’s 99-63 win over Saint Paul’s, Hairston finished with 23 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals to lead the Lady Bears.
Rookie of the Week
Celeste Trahan-Elizabeth City State University, 6’2”, FR, Center,
Stockton, CA
In two Lady Viking victories this week, Trahan maintained her strangle hold
on Rookie of the Week honors by averaging 20 points, 16 rebounds, 1.5 steals
and 1.5 blocked shots . For the season the 6’2” Californian is
averaging 15 points per game, leads the league in rebounding and is second
in blocked shots.

With three wins this week, the Lady Bears improved to 19-1 are ranked third
in this week’s Division II poll.
