CIAA Women’s Basketball Players of the Week

Women’s Player of the Week
Kiarsha Curtis-Shaw University, 5’7”, SR, Guard, Capital Heights, MD
Curtis averaged 30 points, five steals, 4.5 rebounds and three assists as the 3rd ranked Lady Bears went 2-0 this week. In a win over Bowie State, Curtis was a perfect 10 for 10 from the field and 4 for 4 from the free throw line and scored 26 points to lead Shaw. Earlier in the week in a 104-38 win over Saint Paul’s, Curtis nailed 7 of 10 three-pointers on her way to a game high 34 points.

Rookie of the Week
Karla Gamble-North Carolina Central University, 5’6”, FR, Guard, Albion, MI

Gamble knocked down five 3-pointers and finished with 17 points in the Lady Eagles 73-50 win over Livingstone. In three games this week Gamble averaged 14.3 points, 2 rebounds, 1.6 assists and one steal for the Lady Eagles.

Coach of the Week
Eric Tucker-Fayetteville State University

After important divisional wins over North Carolina Central and Saint Augustine’s, Coach Tucker and the 12-8 Lady Broncos moved into sole possession of first place in the Western Division with a 6-1 record as the regular season race moves into the home stretch.
