Leon G. Kerry, Commissioner of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, has been appointed to the Business Advisory Council of the National Republican Congressional Committee.
Working through the State of Virginia, Kerry will have a voice on policies that are presented on the congressional floor concerning small businesses. This appointment will provide an opportunity to express opinions, participate in in-group discussions and contribute to the on going political legislative process.
Bringing an extensive background in policy and fiscal development, Kerry has headed the eighty-nine year old CIAA conference for eleven years. This is including this year's most successful Basketball Tournament, ranking amongst the highest with an attendance of over 74,000 in a week's span creating an economic impact of an estimated $8.8 million for the City of Raleigh.
Other committee involvement includes the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Commissioner's Association, the NACDA John McLendon Minotiry Scholarship Committee, and Hampton Roads Committee of 200+ Men and most recently, past chair of the NCAA Division II Legislative Committee.
